Wed, 19 November 2008 Gord Maddison is an outdoor enthusiast from Ottawa, Ontario. He runs,
hikes, paddles, camps and likes spending time with his family in the
outdoors. He's a regular listener who emailed a while back about his
participation in the Whiteface Mountain Uphill Footrace in New York. In our feature interview we talk about that event and about his outdoor family adventures this summer. Gord tells us about their trip across Canada with visits to sites like the incredible Dinosaur Provincial Park
in Alberta, a world heritage site. We find out about an intense summer
storm that snapped tent poles throughout the campground and we talk
about life in an outdoors family. Gord also has plans to start his own podcast about Dad's and Kid's in the outdoors. Also on the show we hear from a homesick listener in Sweden, talk about Ray Mears and his BBC TV Show on Bushcraft and we check in with David Leach, a former guest on the show who wrote the book 'Fatal Tide' about a fatality during an adventure race. He was awarded a Special Jury Mention at the recent Banff Mountain Book Awards. Podsafe music on the show this week from Great Big Sea.
